Thermal & Insulation

Industrial Insulation

Hot, cold and cryogenic insulation for tanks, pipelines, boilers, ducts and process equipment across refineries, power plants and pharmaceutical facilities.

What we insulate#

Insulation is not a covering. It is a system: the material, the vapour barrier, the finish, the supports and the terminations all have to work together, and the weakest of them sets the performance of the whole.

MAGWHIRL installs insulation systems on:

  • Storage tanks and process vessels
  • Pipework, headers and manifolds
  • Boilers, economisers and flue-gas ducting
  • Heat exchangers, columns and reactors
  • Chilled-water and refrigeration lines

Hot, cold and cryogenic#

Hot systems are about heat loss, personnel protection and process stability. Material selection follows service temperature, and the finish has to survive thermal cycling without opening up at the joints.

Cold systems are harder, because the enemy is not heat but moisture. Warm air moving toward a cold surface will condense inside the insulation if the vapour barrier is not continuous. Once it does, thermal performance falls away and corrosion under insulation begins quietly, out of sight.

Cryogenic systems compress every one of those problems. Contraction is significant, the vapour drive is severe, and the consequences of a defect show up as ice, not as a slightly higher energy bill.

How we work#

We survey before we quote. Surface condition, existing supports, access and the shutdown window all change the method, and a scope written without seeing the plant is a scope that gets revised on site.

Installation is inspected in stages rather than only at the end — vapour barrier continuity, in particular, cannot be verified once the cladding is on.
