Most projects combine several of those — a tank job is usually fabrication plus insulation plus cladding, and a hospital job is usually shielding plus infrastructure.

Technical

Hot systems are about heat loss, personnel protection and process stability. Material selection follows service temperature.

Cold systems are about moisture, not heat. Warm air moving toward a cold surface condenses inside the insulation unless the vapour barrier is continuous — and once that starts, corrosion under insulation begins out of sight.

Cryogenic systems intensify all of it: significant contraction, severe vapour drive, and defects that show up as ice.

Because the cladding decides how long the insulation lasts. Water that gets past a badly lapped sheet does not evaporate — it sits in the insulation and corrodes the pipe underneath.

Most cladding failures are detailing failures rather than material failures: laps facing the wrong way, terminations stopping short, screws through the crown of a corrugation instead of the valley.

A radiation physicist, not the installer. The specification comes from the equipment, the workload and the occupancy of every adjacent space — including above and below.

We install to that specification and hand over the material certificates, as-installed drawings and photographic records the commissioning survey will ask for.

Three reasons that matter at volume. Induction puts energy into the pan rather than the room, so ambient temperature and ventilation load both fall. Response is immediate, which matters when a batch has to come off heat now. And there is no open flame — which is why hospitals specify it particularly often.

For anything beyond a straightforward supply, yes — and we would encourage it.

Surface condition, access, existing supports and the realistic working window all change the method and therefore the price. A scope priced purely from a drawing tends to get revised on site, which helps nobody.

Yes, and it is how much of our insulation and fabrication work is delivered.

Shutdown work is planned backwards from the window: mobilisation, permits, isolations, manpower and inspection points are all sequenced against the hours available. We will tell you honestly if a scope will not fit the window you have.

Yes. Hospital work is planned around infection control, phasing and noise from the outset — dust barriers and transit routes agreed before the first fixing, departments handed over in pieces so services keep running, and any isolation of gas, power or water scheduled with clinical staff.

Material certificates, as-installed drawings, welding and inspection records where applicable, photographic records taken before surfaces were closed up, and commissioning data.

We compile it as the work proceeds rather than reconstructing it at the end, because reconstructed records are the ones with gaps in them.
